What Is Counseling?

Counseling is the professional guidance of the individual by utilizing psychological methods, especially in collecting case history data, using various techniques of the personal interview, and testing interests and aptitudes when you work with a mental health counselor for a particular period of time. This service is suggested to help with events such as specific relationship issues, targeted stressors, or changes in home life. For example; if you’re having issues in your relationship, couples counseling can help couples understand and resolve problems, dissatisfaction, and conflict in their relationship

What Is Therapy?

Therapy, on the other hand, is the professional treatment of mental or emotional disorders or related bodily ills by psychological means, and is different from counseling in that it is longer term. This service is suggested to help with behavioral, personal, or habitual problems, such as depression or anxiety. Therapy is done so that the individual can enjoy a better quality of life.

At RHS we know that at many times specific issues and behavioral/emotional disorders often occur in tangent. Thankfully, many of our mental health practitioners are trained in both counseling and therapy methods.
